Our approach to early childhood education employs an interconnected web of educational practices grounded in the innate curiosity, competence, and enthusiasm children have for learning. Accompanied by their teacher, children participate in planned and spontaneous activities throughout the campus with Bayview residents. Through these daily interactions, the children and the residents create meaningful connections between generations, which helps to foster positive attitudes and understanding towards both seniors and people with disabilities. As children interact on a daily basis with their extended family of “grandmas and the grandpas,” they bring joy and receive genuine appreciation in return. Keyword: Shared Site

Sea Mar Child Development Center runs an intergenerational program that occurs in cooperation with Sea Mar’s Community Care Center. Through this program, children have an opportunity to interact regularly with seniors, providing new learning opportunities for our youth and the elderly. Keyword: Shared Site

Josie's Learning Center serves infants, toddlers, and school age children from our community. The Learning Center provides a wide range of child care services ranging from infant day care, preschool learning, after school care, and ECEAP Preschool. The Learning Center program is integrated throughout our building with four designated classroom spaces and shared dining room, dayroom, and activity areas. The children learn important lessons from residents in assisted living, transitional care and long term care, while at the same time, enriching and energizing the life of our home. Children and residents of assisted living and long-term care facility interact

CRISTA Senior Living (CSL) and Kings Schools is located on the same campus. The Shoreline campus of CRISTA Senior Living consists of close to 600 residents from independent housing to nursing care. Kings Schools consist of over 1,100 students from preschool through High School. Throughout the school year and summer students and residents are actively engaged in several scheduled and spontaneous intergenerational activities.

In conjunction with our Character Education Program, we have established an Intergenerational Program with various Sunrise Assisted Living Communities in the area. The program gives our children opportunities to share what they are doing in the classroom and what inspires them through the seasons. The children and seniors get together for holidays including Halloween and the winter holidays

Each month, residents of Warm Hearth are visited by Micah’s Soup for Seniors volunteers. They receive food and a social visit from volunteers from various academic, civic, and religious groups.

GHFC is unique in that the children and adults are cared for in one structure, have one entrance to the building where both generations enter and exit, and intergenerational activities are a daily component of our program. There are structured times for interaction between the generations as well as many times that the interaction is spontaneous and need-based. Programs from the USA, Spain and universities have visited the Center for its quality and unique model.

Generations day care provides preschool and after-school programs in an intergenerational atmosphere. Adult Day Care offers daytime care for adults who have Alzheimer’s Disease, post-stroke symptoms, age-related disabilities, or other needs that require assistance or supervision.
