Garden Mosaics is a youth and community education program that combines science learning with intergenerational mentoring, multicultural understanding and community action. Garden Mosaics was created at Cornell University and is now maintained and hosted at the American Community Gardening Association.

The Learning Circle at Jennings Center for Older Adults is an enriching infant and child care program. The most unique aspect of The Learning Circle is our intergenerational program. We encourage the learning opportunities between seniors and younger generations from preschoolers to teens, which foster learning and mentoring relationships that greatly impact the lives of both generations. Daily programs offer activities and tools to foster this important positive interaction and provide life-enriching experiences

Friends Preschool Program, run by Greene County Educational Service Center is on the site of Friends Care Community independent/assisted living center

Opening Minds through Art (OMA) is an intergenerational art program for people with dementia. It is grounded in person-centered ethics and founded on the fact that people with dementia are capable of expressing themselves creatively. There is a growing body of empirical evidence that creative expression improves their physical and psychological well-being. The mission of OMA is to build bridges across age and cognitive barriers through art. The program is implemented in group sessions: Up to 12 people with dementia with the assistance of 12 trained volunteers working on a one-to-one basis. The art-making sessions culminate in a gallery exhibition celebrating the artists’ accomplishments while educating the public about the creative capacities of people with dementia.

The Champion Intergenerational Center is such a place, serving older adults, young children, and university students. Operated as a university/community collaboration, the Center offers many benefits to the Center participants, the Near East Side and wider community, and The Ohio State University faculty and students. Within OSU, the initiative is led by the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Social Work. Columbus Early Learning Centers is the early childhood care and education provider and National Church Residences provides adult day services. Center partners are committed to creating a center of excellence where multiple generations are engaged, finding purpose and new experiences in their day. Keyword: Shared Site

Angel Academy Day Care is a child day care program operated by St. Francis Senior Ministries Day Care, Inc. is located at St. Francis Home. Children have the opportunity to interact with elderly residents, providing rewarding experiences for both groups. They have regularly scheduled visits and activities with the residents.

At Marilyn’s Lifelong Educational Center (MLLEC) children learn through hands on explorations, daily interactions and guidance within a natural family-like environment. Planned hands on explorations are implemented by our teachers and designed to help children learn life skills and gain an academic advantage. Interactions are either planned or qualify as friendly visits with our elder friends throughout Birchaven Retirement Village.

Community Center is open to all ages and offers various activities.

The senior center run through Heritage Day is in the same site as a childcare center run through the YMCA. The children and older adults interact on a daily basis.

The Girard Multi-Generational Center promotes interaction between generations through education, health, fitness, and socialization for the purpose of preserving and enhancing our community. the Multi-Generational Center has become an accessible, safe, friendly place where people of all ages come to receive a wide variety of services. Our goal is to keep people active, engaged, and developing paths for lifelong learning, health and fitness.
