  3. Family Folk Machine – Iowa City Senior Center
    The Family Folk Machine is an intergenerational, non-auditioned choir supported by the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center that welcomes kids and adults of all ages and backgrounds to sing together with a folk band. We seek to build community through singing songs with our neighbors, to explore American history and culture through song, to foster individual musical growth, and to pursue excellence as an ensemble.

  5. Living (Well Through) Intergenerational Fitness and Exercise (LIFE)
    Unique program led by younger adults that increases access for at-risk older rural populations to sustainable, low cost, physical activity programming. The theory-based LIFE program aims to connect the generations, improving aging perceptions in young adult trainers while providing socialization for the older adult participants.

  6. Mending the Gap – Connect2Connect
    Mending the Gap offers FREE computer training to teach seniors basic computer and Internet skills so they can access benefits, such as food stamps and Medicaid, and email family and friends. Keyword: Shared Site

  7. OASIS: CATCH Healthy Habits Intergenerational Program – Atlanta
    CATCH brings children and adults age 50+ together to learn good eating and physical activity habits for a lifetime. The program combats obesity by engaging adults age 50+ as mentors to teach healthy lifelong habits to kids in grades K-5. Adults in the program benefit in several ways. Research shows that volunteers have lower rates of depression and mortality and greater functional ability than those who do not volunteer. As they promote healthy habits for kids and for themselves, they also experience the rewards of meaningful community service.

  8. George Center for Music Therapy Inc. Intergenerational Rock Band
    Our Intergenerational Rock Band brings together the young and old to sing, dance, and get a little wild. Once a week, a group of young adults comes to the Arbor Terrace at Crabapple. The group practices learning the lyrics to rock and roll songs from groups and singers like Bob Seger, the Beatles, and even newer groups like the Black Keys. After months of practice, the group will perform a concert out in the community.

  10. Seagull Schools–Kapolei School and Adult Day Care Center
    A unique feature of the center is its purposeful design that integrates adult activities with the adjoining preschool. The result is a program that mutually benefits young children and older adults in an atmosphere that resembles a small village. The caring environment is complemented by a well trained staff and a schedule of activities that stimulates physical and mental well being.
