  1. University of Rochester, Program of Dance and Movement
Moving Memories (DAN 247) is a choreography class that celebrates intergenerational learning. UR students and senior citizens participate in a mutually enriching and artful mission of creating a performative dance based on a significant memory from the elder’s past. The class investigates transcribing narrative into movement, sharing all aspects of decision-making in the process. Social bonding opportunities via outings and communal workshops are part of the semester experience as well. The final dances are performed in culminating concerts at the senior residence as well as at the University of Rochester.

This multi-cultural group of students and Elders share wisdom of their generations and offer each other opportunities for a loving audience, sharing life-stories, cultural practices and tackling loneliness and isolation. The synergy created offers both groups a space for fun and joy.
