This report resulted from Generations United‘s Grandfamilies Project—with support from the William Penn Foundation—that explored the unmet needs of Philadelphia’s grandfamilies, the conditions giving rise to their new caregiving status, and the barriers that interfered with family stability and issues of access to services. Philadelphia’s grandfamily community is ethnically, socioeconomically, and culturally diverse. This report includes recommendations for community and government agencies to improve their services to grandfamilies based on the project findings and related research.
