VISIONS has offered an intergenerational program since 1987 matching sighted youth with blind older people. VISIONS Intergenerational Program at VISIONS Older Adult Center (OAC) in Manhattan, recruits and trains volunteer high school students to assist older adults who are visually impaired or blind at VISIONS location in Selis Manor. The youth provide assistance with reading, shopping, socialization and technology. Students assist in providing intergenerational programming from arts, book clubs and other special events. VISIONS also recruits blind or visually impaired HS students to assist participants with accessibility given they have a level of experience with technology that has been very helpful. These technology offerings come as an expansion to other programs such as Android tablet training and iPhone accessibility class just to name a few.
