DOROT mobilizes volunteers of all ages to improve the lives of the elderly. Our intergenerational programs engage youth in volunteer activities within an educational framework, increase their sensitivity to the needs of the elderly, and further their commitment to service. Intergenerational programs raise awareness about the realities faced by seniors, provide an avenue to make a difference through hands-on volunteer projects, and expose students to professional careers serving the elderly. Seniors who participate in DOROT‟s intergenerational activities are connected to the community, report enhanced satisfaction with life and a new understanding of young people, and a renewed sense of purpose.
