Tawanna Jackson

College Park, Georgia

Tawanna Jackson is a kinship caregiver, a veteran, behavioral health professional, and community leader in Georgia. She has cared for her nephew for several years while also supporting her father, giving her firsthand experience with caregiving across generations. Tawanna describes the journey as challenging and deeply meaningful, and says it has strengthened her patience, resilience, and belief in the importance of community support.

Tawanna also leads RECOVERY WARRIORZ and is actively involved in addressing food insecurity in her community. She helps distribute food through community partnerships and established a small community food pantry and library. She is especially proud that RECOVERY WARRIORZ received its first grant in 2020.

Through GKU, Tawanna hopes to strengthen her leadership, advocacy, and civic engagement skills, build lasting relationships with other caregivers, and expand the community connections and impact of RECOVERY WARRIORZ.
