Gabrielle (they/them) is an urban farmer who utilizes ecological methods to care for land, environment, and people in Salt Lake City, Utah. They oversee a small-scale university farm which engages the campus through garden-based education and urban food production to foster environmental stewardship, community resilience, and belonging on campus. Gabrielle is also a first year MS student. Their thesis reintroduces local intergenerational farming programming to investigate impact on student wellbeing, healthy aging in place, and community resilience. Gabrielle is especially excited by the rich connection that is facilitated through food. They believe active participation in local food ways is crucial to caring for our environment, communities, and selves.
When they aren’t covered in garden soil, you can find them spending time with their spouse and pup camping, hiking, or paddle boarding, or working on food preservation or fiber arts. They are thrilled at the opportunity to develop among other intergenerational leaders in the coming months!
