Caring for a relative child brings deep love—and real challenges. You may be navigating new routines, big emotions, and unfamiliar systems while doing your best to support your family. You don’t have to do this alone. Our Kinship Caregiver Support Community is a welcoming space for grandparents, relatives, and close family friends raising children. Each gathering offers interactive learning on topics like understanding behavior, supporting children impacted by trauma, and strengthening relationships. You’ll also gain practical parenting strategies you can use right away—simple, realistic tools designed for everyday life. Just as important, this space offers community and connection. You’ll meet other caregivers who understand, share ideas, and support one another in meaningful ways. We meet on the 4th Thursday of each month via Zoom, and the group is open to caregivers nationwide, making it easy to join from wherever you are. You are not alone—and we’re here to walk alongside you.

Tech Buddies is an initiative connecting high school students with older adults to build digital confidence. Our team of high-school volunteers provide one-on-one, free, weekly 'tech' sessions to senior citizens in retirement homes, libraries, local recreation centers, senior living facilities as well in large community-style gatherings in school gyms which is open to the public. Through these recurring sessions, we have helped seniors learn essential tech skills like video calling, various smartphone settings, social media, online commerce, setting reminders for meds/appointments, pairing multiple devices, connecting phones to hearing aids, phone dictation feature, installing/using medical apps for heart-rate, diabetes, etc. We also do onsite presentations of common topics like i) how to prevent online scams ii) how to conduct online commerce/shopping ii) how to add anti-virus protection on devices iv) how to use AI on phones etc.. Our onsite presence gives seniors an opportunity to ask questions & get answers promptly on the topic. Our goal is to help seniors feel more confident and connected in an increasingly digital world, while also giving students the opportunity to develop empathy and communication skills.

Adopt a Grandparent Day stands out by offering a structured, emotion-filled day of connection that focuses solely on honoring older adults through volunteer visits, “treasure boxes,” and community engagement. Rather than being an abstract awareness campaign, it provides a tangible, local event—held annually in early September—where volunteers can visit nursing-home residents, spend quality time, and deliver thoughtfully prepared gifts or activity boxes. It emphasizes that each older adult matters and that, through simple acts of companionship and recognition, we can bring joy, meaningful relationships and intergenerational connection to seniors who often feel overlooked. The initiative leverages the power of community volunteers, local businesses, schools and faith groups to foster moments of appreciation and connection that reverberate beyond the single day.

An intergenerational LGBTQ+ gathering for renewal, rejuvenation, and relationship building. This retreat will offer a refuge space for renewal, rejuvenation, and relationship building at Pendle Hill, a Quaker center open to all for retreat, learning, and community. This gathering will bring together LGBTQ+ participants from a range of ages and spiritual backgrounds, providing an opportunity to break bread together, recenter in openness to the Spirit, and create new connections as we celebrate what nourishes and sustains us across the generations.

Through daily interaction with children, seniors gain a stronger emotional, physical and mental health. Seniors feel a connection to the world and in return, their activity levels increase. When seniors and children interact this helps to deter the effects of dementia and other cognitive impairments, leading to a better, and longer quality of life. Education, resource & Support Group designed to address the unique needs of Grandparents Raising Children.

RCP is a non-profit/government collaboration to provide services to support non-parental relatives raising children at risk of entering state custody. We cover thirteen counties in Middle Tennessee, and offer case management, emergency financial and material assistance, as well as support groups and family enrichments.

The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program offers seniors aged 55 and over opportunities to serve as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for children with exceptional needs. The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program has been in existence for over 54 years in North Iowa. The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program’s mission is to bring together a senior and a young child in ways that help each individual grow so that both the senior and the child learn what it means to give, accept, mentor and gain in understanding. The program focuses on helping older children with reading, spelling, math, and writing. The focus for infants and toddlers is to develop trusting relationships with adults, so they grow to believe in themselves and become confident adults.

The Foster Grandparent Program is part of the AmeriCorps Seniors initiative, designed to engage older adults in meaningful volunteer work while providing essential support to children who are academically or socially at risk. Volunteers, often referred to as "Foster Grandparents," serve as mentors and tutors, helping children develop critical skills and confidence in various settings, including schools, Head Starts, childcare centers, daycare centers and after school programs.

Perry Lutheran Homes brings older adults and young children together through a fully on-site intergenerational campus model within a senior living environment. An early childhood center and school, Acorns & Oaks Christian Academy, is physically located on campus and includes daycare, preschool, and a soon-to-open elementary program (K–2), making children a natural part of daily community life. Because the school is located within the senior living community, intergenerational connection occurs naturally rather than through occasional visits. Older adults and children interact daily through shared activities such as reading, music, movement, art projects, celebrations, worship, and informal time in shared spaces. Children grow up alongside older adults of all abilities, including those living with memory loss or dementia, learning compassion, patience, and respect through everyday relationships. Older adults experience increased social engagement, meaningful relationships, and renewed purpose, while children gain empathy, confidence, and social awareness. By intentionally co-locating generations on one campus, the program strengthens connections and creates a place where generations live, learn, and grow together.
