  1. University of Minnesota and Augustana Apartments
Edward Ratner, associate professor of internal medicine at the University of Minnesota, is behind an initiative to have Univ. of Minnesota medical students and students from Luther Seminary live with senior citizens in the Augustana Apartments. Seminary students work at the Christian-based senior living facility for 12 hours a week and medical students interact with seniors to deepen their understanding of geriatrics. Students pay a discounted rental rate and eat meals, attend social, recreational or religious activities, and socialize with their older neighbors.
