  2. JCA Heyman Interages Center – Mature Mentors
    A program with the Special Education department at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac. Volunteers have the opportunity to support students both academically and personally. Mentors meet weekly to help students with goals, planning, and school adjustment throughout the year.

  3. JCA Heyman Interages Center – Read Aloud
    The Read Aloud program brings adult volunteers into Pre-K and Head Start classrooms to read books aloud to small groups of four-year-old children. Volunteers encourage the students to develop an interest in books and model a love of reading.

  4. Arts for the Aging
    Weaving Our Stories, a summer intergenerational program. Children ages 7-15 collaborated with seniors in an apartment complex on art and storytelling. Teaching artists led the program which culminated in an artwork display

  5. JCA Heyman Interages Center -Project SHARE
    Project SHARE is a program to enrich the lives of health-impaired seniors in adult day care centers and assisted living facilities. Project SHARE (Students Help And Reach Elders) brings children from pre-k through high school to the facilities to enjoy games, craft projects, music and dance programs with the residents. Makeover Madness, a special program of Project SHARE, brings adults from senior facilities to the Thomas Edison High School of Technology for cosmetic services and friendly conversation with the students.

  6. JCA Heyman Interages Center – Makeover Madness
    Makeover Madness brings older adults from adult day care centers for a day of pampering by cosmetology students. Volunteers manage the program by coordinating with cosmetology teachers and adult day care staff, organizing the appointments, and engaging with the older adults while they wait for their service.

  7. Danvers High School
    On Valentines Day the Senior Class of Danver's High School served breakfast for Danver's senior citizens in the cafeteria.   8. Dartmouth High School Honor Society
    For the past couple of years, the Dartmouth High School National Honor Society has been hosting the Sweetheart Dance at the Council on Aging. This event gives high school seniors the ability to interact with older adults in the community. The Honor Society students provide the decorations, the food, the DJ, and the entertainment. During the event, the older adults have a chance to grab some food and dessert and enjoy the dance floor.

  9. Food Bank of Western Massachesetts
    The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts serves more than 108,000 individuals facing food insecurity, 33 percent of whom are children under the age of 18. Not eating enough healthy foods can have devastating effects on a child’s health, growth and development—both physical and mental. Intergenerational Community Meals is a healthy cooking workshop series targeted at families with members of all ages. The workshops cover topics related to nutrition, healthy eating habits, cooking at home, shopping on a budget, and physical activity. During each class, a meal is prepared, and everyone is involved in its preparation. At the end of each class, participating families get to take home a bag of groceries so they can replicate the recipe at home.
