Generations is a leading provider of licensed, nationally accredited child care in the Rochester New York (NY) area. They offer uniquely intergenerational programming teams with social adult daycare linking children and seniors. The child care center at St Michael’s brings child care and elder care together by partnering with St. Ann’s nursing home for intergenerational programming.

The Adult & Senior Center of Saratoga offers an intergenerational art program for seniors and children. This free workshop offers the opportunity for children to work alongside seniors in an informal, creative setting. Participants will be guided as much or as little as they wish while they use acrylic paints on canvas. A fun and funky still life will be assembled for inspiration. At the end of the session, everyone will take home their own masterpiece! Monroe County hosts an annual Intergenerational Fishing Day at Powder Mills Park with the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau and Monroe County Office for the Aging. Rods and door prizes are donated to participating youth by the Monroe County Fishing Advisory Board (MCFAB) . The Monroe County Intergenerational Fishing Day provides an opportunity for youth to meet our community's senior citizens and enjoy a morning of fishing and fun at one of our County's finest parks. This FREE event allows students from all grade levels to take part in a friendly day of fishing, while forming new friendships and learning about our the environment from Biologists of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The Intergenerational Choir is a non-auditioned group collaboration between the School of Music, Gerontology Institute, and Longview, an IthaCare Community.

The Music & Memory Student Volunteer Program is currently connecting high school and college students in Wisconsin and Texas with intergenerational service learning/volunteer opportunities in nursing homes, assisted living communities and public libraries. Both Wisconsin and Texas have state approved curriculums that are being promoted and taught in order to educate middle and high school students on brain health and dementia. College courses are incorporating hands internship and volunteer experiences into Students are able to bring their tech savvy skills to these various environments to interview individuals with dementia, create personalized music playlists and form meaningful intergenerational relationships. The individuals with dementia are benefiting through an increased access to personalized music, companionship, variety in their daily routine, reduction in the reliance of anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety medication and an overall improvement in their quality of life. Students are learning about dementia and the healthy choices to make now to affect future health outcomes, fulfilling graduation requirements, developing new relationships with their elders and exposure to a wide range of career opportunities. Visiting Neighbors' Intergenerational Program brings generations together to learn from each other.Young people from the community visit seniors to learn about their lives and to share their own experiences as they relieve the seniors' isolation and loneliness. They escort seniors to medical appointments, help wih shopping and errands, enjoy walks in the community together and learn about the seniors' lives. The seniors learn about growing up in today's world, including new technologies and new ideas.

Countywide bilingual support program for grandparents and relatives raising grandchildren; case assistance and advocacy; referrals for mental health counseling, legal assistance and other services; caregiver support groups, parenting training and caregiver recognition; family events; summer youth program; material assistance, school clothing and holiday gifts; public advocacy and education; and newsletter.

GlamourGals' mission is to inspire and organize teen volunteers to provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes. GlamourGals is working to build a movement of young leaders who provide a solution to elder loneliness. The organization’s vision is to end elder loneliness through a volunteer program that engages teens in critical skill-building experiences and promotes their development as leaders. Manicures and makeovers are just half the story. GlamourGals’ teen volunteers are organized locally into chapters, which consist of approximately ten members led by teen leaders. Chapter leaders recruit, train and organize their volunteers with the support of GlamourGals National. Chapters are established in high schools and colleges as independent school clubs or as permanent service activities within existing service clubs. Chapters commit to visiting their local senior home to provide GlamourGals’ signature manicures and makeovers. In addition to makeovers, chapter leaders plan meetings, recruitment, training, and fundraising events, which involve their school and the greater community. GlamourGals National goes beyond just organizing volunteer chapters that provide ongoing visits to local senior homes. They provide training and mentorship for the teens in the program through a monthly curriculum, as well as incentives and scholarship rewards.

Opportunities are available in the Churchville-Chili and Greece school districts and 18 other U. S. cities. OASIS volunteer tutors are paired with children in grades K-3 who would benefit from a one-on-one mentoring relationship. Tutors are trained to work with kids using a proven approach to literacy that emphasizes reading, talking and writing. They meet with their students at least once a week throughout the school year, providing a caring, supportive environment where reading and language activities, keyed to the child’s interests, spark curiosity and learning.
