Family and Friends at Dock Woods provides a hands-on Montessori based program for children ages 6 weeks – 5 years that benefits the whole child. By developing a diverse and engaged community we will nurture each child’s uniqueness and it as a guide to cultivate a community of lifelong learners with confidence, respect and an appreciation of the natural world. Families Turning® is committed to strengthening families one person at a time by providing practical skills and transformative ideas that strengthen relationships between the adult members of families. These skills and ideas can be used in any relationship and when we take the time and energy to understand and change family relationships, the effects translate into all relationships. We provide workshops for the public, training for caring professional's (CEUs provided) and direct counseling for Adults- individual, couple or family. We use a workbook, activities and a book is currently in production. One person relating in a new positive way can be an effective change agent in their family. By engaging the Families Turning Relational Elements while being armed with skills to make conversations more productive, this will start a hopeful ripple of change that unclogs repetitive and unproductive patterns. Professionals need techniques to quickly assist, equip and engage the populations that we serve. Families Turning highlights and makes accessible the best of past and present day therapeutic modalities- including building emotional intelligence and engaging the pre-frontal cortex. While they do not have formal programs, this retirement community has frequent young visitors and allows a Girls on the Run team to practice on the campus

Mentees and mentors from the mentoring program and Allegheny College go to the Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community to assist residents in the dining room and interact with residents by finding out their life stories. The goal of the project was to interview the residents about their life stories using research based questions.

This program provides an opportunity for middle and high school students, in grades 7 through 12, to assist older adults in completing routine light-duty household chores, yard work, mowing lawns and shoveling snow. The goal of the Rent-A-Kid program is not only to get an important job done, but also to foster friendships between older adults and youth.

Foxdale Village, a Quaker-directed continuing care retirement community, is located on the property adjacent to the Friends School. This close proximity has made possible many intergenerational activities in both communities. Foxdale residents participate at the school by tutoring in math and reading, doing library work, and attending the weekly Meeting for Worship. The school has utilized Foxdale's auditorium for school play productions and has entertained residents with School Peace Choir performances and Halloween parades.

While they do not have formal programs, young visitors are encouraged to visit the library's children's book section, the turtle pond, and the mother/calf pairs at the farm, as well as pick apples and pumpkins at the farm market

Our curriculum includes an intergenerational program with “grandfriends” from the residential community, which combines their talents and life skills in daily and special events

Newtown Friends School has shared a rich and diverse intergenerational program with Pennswood Village, an adjacent continuing care retirement community that is home to people ages 65–105. The program fosters relationships between students and residents, actively enriching the life of both communities. Weekly programs include Friday Friends, Wednesday Lunch Brunch, and Classroom Volunteers. Other activities include pool volleyball, Halloween parades, movie discussions and more.
