KINSHIP CARE RESOURCE CENTER

Mission Statement

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren - We are many - We are one! Working together to make a difference!
Intergenerational Services

More and more grandparents find themselves shedding their traditional roles to become parents once again, as a new generation of youth is being raised by grandparents and other relatives in parent absent homes. Reasons for this include child abuse and/or neglect, substance abuse, prison, AIDS, mental illness, and death, to name a few. Over 100,000 Georgia grandparents are raising their grandchildren in parent absent homes, and more 3000 of them live in Clayton County. The Kinship Care Resource Center is a place where grandparents and other relative caregivers can find help and hope. The center has services available to grandparents raising grandchildren and other relative caregivers who are raising children in homes where the parents do not live. Services include: Support groups for adults, teens, and youth, computer training, tutoring, counseling, respite care, parent/child group recreation activities, information and referrals, material aid, case management, and more. We are open 7am - 5pm Monday through Friday, with extended weekday hours for tutoring, counseling, teen and youth rap, and special programs. New Client Intakes are done on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am until noon. You must bring proof of residency, guardianship/custody papers, and social security numbers for caregivers and the children in care.
