Winners of the 2006 GU Intergenerational Photography Contest

Grand Prize   Eugene Manning, age 57, Hagerstown, MD.   At the annual Easter Seals Cruise for Kids, where boat owners and other senior volunteers provide a day of fun and therapeutic recreations for children with disabilities, a senior volunteer helps a child reach the upper deck.	2nd Prize Hai Nguyen, age 17, Worcester, MA The Math Magicians are an intergenerational group of actors working in partnership between RSVP - Worcester Area Volunteers and the Learn and Serve program at South High School.  The Math Magicians do a 45 minute performance piece for the first graders in the Worcester elementary schools, emphasizing that math in important and fun.	3rd Prize Maxine Gilmeister, age 61, Port Orchard, WA   Grandfather and grandson working together in clearing property.  Grandson's firsthand experience driving with grandfather on his newly purchased John Deere Tractor.
Humorous Situation Barbara McDonald, age 63, Graham, WA Grandson tries to do everything his "Papa" does, here he follows behind his grandpa helping with the yardwork.	Emotional Expression   Alice Everhart, age 56, Lexington, NC.    Great-uncle and great-niece laugh together at her antics after a game of ball.	Celebration of Diversity Jeanette DeVore, age 56, Fort Wayne, IN  During a visit to China a grandfather touches his granddaughter and then his own heart, expressing the universal gesture of love.
Intergenerational Activity Portrayed (Tie) Gloria Robinson, age 52, Virginia Beach, VA  A Great-grandfather and his great-granddaughter talk about life and family history in the heart of any home, the kitchen.	Intergenerational Activity Portrayed (Tie) Cindi Daniel, age 59, Goffstown, NH   "We have the dirt and the plant, but my hands are stuck in the flower pot.  Maybe I should have only put in one hand at a time," says Lillian to her on-looking helpers, Devon and Alisha.  "Now I know why I don't have my own gardening show."

The photographs that were not selected as winners may be used in future GU publications and exhibits.
