“Intergenerational Transmission of Culture and Language in Native American Communities”
The opening plenary will highlight the importance of intergenerational communication of traditions, beliefs, rituals and language within the Native American culture. Commissioner Quanah Crossland Stamps, the Commissioner of the Administration for Native Americans of the US Department of Health and Human Services, is joined by Dr. Carol Locust and Regina Siquieros. Arrive early for a special welcome from Waki and the Little Thunder Dance Troupe. The session is moderated by Dr. Valerie Kuehne. |

“Chicken Soup for YOUR Caring Soul: Caring for you as you care for others"
LeAnn Thieman, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Grandma's Soul and six other Chicken Soup books, will deliver the luncheon address. Caregiving, while rewarding, requires tremendous emotional, physical and spiritual stamina, making burnout an everyday challenge. LeAnn offers remedies by encouraging caregivers to care for themselves as devotedly as they do for others. She fills caregivers with hope, courage, and strength and honors them for the difference they make in the world. LeAnn will be signing copies of her books before and after this inspirational session. |

"What Are Old People For - What Are Young People For?"
Dr. William Thomas, founder of the Eden Alternative will be the co-keynote speaker. Along with a panel of youth, he will be discussing the topic "What Are Old People For - What Are Young People For?” in an interactive session. Dr. Thomas will sign copies of What Are Old People For?
